TUITION MYTHS

WHY TUITION?
Many parents sent their children to tuition centers to catch up with the school syllabus. They are afraid when their children can't score well, they will drop out of the class. This sentiment arised from the fact that school teachers do not have the time to attend to each students' problem. This become worsen since the saturation of students in independent school that cause more students being packed in one class. However, we need not put the blame on school teachers because they are not only teaching one class but several classes. Therefore, parents nowadays rely mostly on tuition classes to improve their child's grades. Rich parents can afford 1 to 1 tuition which is the most 'effective' because the tuition teacher can attend to the student all the time. 'effective' is a personal opinion by others. For me, I will actively avoid teaching 1 to 1 not only it is boring, students will be scared to face the teacher alone. Students like freedom and interest in order to learn. In my opinion, 2 to 5 students is the ideal group for studying. Not only the price will become more affordable due to sharing, group study is more effective as students can interact with each other and interact with the teacher.

ABOUT CONVENTIONAL TUITION TEACHING METHODS
How should parents choose a tuition center? Based on what criteria? What should be consider? Parents will choose based on verbal advertisement by other parents, fame and reputation of the tuition center, price and quality of teachers. What I mean by 'conventional'? These tuition centers will hand out their A+ notes to their students, boasting that they will score A+ after memorizing those notes. This is a marketing strategy as many lazy students will be attracted to attend the tuition. First of all, studying the notes will no doubt be useful in examination, but the students will lose the opportunity to self-study and make their own notes, which is the most useful way. After attending my tuition, students will be able to determine which are the main points, drawing mind maps and linking each chapter. Minimal memorizing work is needed when using this method. Learn how to think, not to 'memorize'!
